A Bubble, Defined

“Something insubstantial, groundless, or ephemeral, especially: a fantastic or impracticable idea or belief; an illusion” and “a protective, often isolating envelope or cover.” Bubbles can be made by geography, pop culture, media, apathy, ignorance, self-obsession, materialism, and many other things. They weaken our perception of truth, misconstrue reality, and obstruct our vision of life outside the bubble(s). This poses a great danger, especially to American Christians. We must recognize the danger, seek to rupture these bubbles, and more fully live out the abundant life we are called to live.
